Reflexology

Reflexology

Reflexology is a method of treatment which involves applying pressure to certain areas found on the feet and hands to ease tension, reduce inflammation, improve circulation, eliminate toxins and encourage the body to heal itself. Most commonly the feet are used as the area to be treated.

In the feet, there are reflex areas corresponding to all parts of the body and these areas are arranged in such a way as to form a map of the body, with the right foot corresponding to the right side of the body and the left foot to the left side of the body. Thus, it becomes possible to treat the whole body and treat the body as a whole. This latter point is an important factor of a natural therapy and allows not only symptoms to be treated but also their causes.

It is thought that illness occurs when 'energy channels' in the body are blocked causing damage to one area or another. Reflexology is aimed at destroying these blockages, allowing energy to flow freely again and so allowing the body to heal itself.

Professional Reflexology is safe and appropriate complementary therapy for men, women, children and the elderly and in most cases, for those with chronic or serious illnesses. If you are undergoing medical treatment. or there are doubts about your current state of health, you will be advised to consult your GP before receiving treatment.

Whilst it is certainly not a replacement for orthodox health care, it does not interfere with medical treatment and indeed will support the healing process.
